Well done to year 8 who had a really successful morning with Haverhill’s answer to the Dragons’ Den. Everyone was impressed by the innovative ideas, careful research and professional pitches produced by the pupils.
It was a fantastic example of creative thinking, teamwork and leadership skills as pupils worked really hard all morning pitching ideas against one another and deciding on the best ones to go forward into the Dragons’ Den. It was a shame we had to limit the number of pitches as there were truly some fantastic ideas most with an eco friendly theme.
After a quick break with a chance to buy a cake from the stack Vicky Martin had made to raise money for Children in need (she raised £115), we were off to the drama studio to watch the selected groups pitch ideas as diverse as a design your own cake company, simulation goggles which transport you back in history, solar powered hair straighteners to a baby mattress with a built in heartbeat sound for comfort.
The presentations were very professional and showed planning, rehearsal and confidence with some even attempting to bribe the Dragons with sample cakes. The amount of research done for this outside of the class room was really impressive and shows the commitment of the pupils and the leadership of the learning coaches who were made very proud. Thanks to Debbie Tabrar for her organisation, the learning coaches for their support and the Dragons for giving time from their local businesses.
Well done everyone
