Students are celebrating a good set of GCSE results at Samuel Ward Academy
Students are celebrating a good set of GCSE results at Samuel Ward Academy. More students achieved more results at Grade 9, the very highest grade, than in previous years. The number of Grade 8s, equivalent to an old A*, rose substantially as well. Maths results reached a three year high with nearly three-quarters of all students achieving a standard pass at Grade 4, and were narrowly out-performed by English.
Headteacher Andy Hunter said “We are delighted that so many students did so well. It is especially good to see the increase in the highest grades across a wide range of subjects, but every qualification that a student worked hard for is a qualification to be proud of, whatever the grade. Congratulations to all the students who worked so hard for these results. We are especially proud of Jack Ainsworth-Mackay, Mathew Bowd, Adam Bullock, James Cowie, George Farrington, Neve Hopkins, Amber Howard, Dylan Morgan-Owen, Becky Rigg and Dodi Rukhadze who all achieved exceptionally high grades across a range of subjects. I would also like to congratulate Leon Naylor, Sam Hammond and Callum Rayner on their impressive achievements."
