Dear Parents and Carers,
As you know, I agreed to take on the executive headship of both Samuel Ward and Westfield Primary Academies from September 2022. A significant reason for that was that we had been unable to appoint a headteacher at Westfield. Instead, we advertised for a head of school and were very pleased to appoint Miss Moody.
Over the last four terms, I have worked closely with Miss Moody and the team at Westfield. It has been a great pleasure for me to support her development as a school leader and to get to know much more about the primary phase. Miss Moody is a very impressive school leader with the right skills and, now, the right experience to take on the full running of the school herself. Consequently, she was appointed Headteacher of Westfield Primary Academy last week. Many congratulations to her. I think that is a great step for her and for the whole school community.
That means that I will no longer be required to support Westfield Primary Academy as Executive Head, though I am determined to keep alive the close bonds that the two schools have formed and to continue to work together to ensure that we share ideas and resources between the two schools and that we work hand in hand to deliver the best education we can to all our children, from early years to post-16.
My time split between Samuel Ward and Westfield has been one of the most interesting and exciting times in my entire career. It was a great privilege to be asked to support the school, and I’m delighted to have been able to help Miss Moody develop into such a strong leader while learning so much myself. Thank you to the communities of both schools for supporting me in that role.
I will remain Executive Headteacher of Samuel Ward Academy and take on an additional responsibility for the trust, leading a large-scale project involving all seven Unity Schools Partnership schools across Haverhill. I look forward to sharing more information about that project in the new year.
