Dear Parents and Carers,

I am writing to let you know about a re-set of uniform expectations after the Easter break and about the changes to the uniform that we expect to make over the next few terms.

Uniform Expectations

Many students come to school looking very smart, but too many students are too untidy at the moment. Students are expected to be in full uniform every day. That means:

  • Black shoes or plain black leather trainers with no symbols or logos in other colours
  • School trousers
  • School blazer
  • A blue shirt and tie or a blue open-necked blouse
  • If a jumper is worn, it should be plain navy blue, v-neck and knitted
  • Plain black, navy or white socks
  • No more than a single earing in each ear
  • No other visible jewellery, though students may wear a small, plain nose stud if they wish
  • A jacket or coat if the weather requires it. That should not be a hoodie or any other sweatshirt-style garment. Hoodies and sweatshirts will be taken by year teams and kept until the end of the day.

I would be very grateful if you would support us by making sure that your child comes to school dressed appropriately.

Uniform Changes

The chart below explains what is changing, for whom and from when. There is no need for parents to buy a lot of new uniform.

The biggest change is that girls who currently wear an open-necked blouse will need to change to a shirt and tie for September. Many parents would expect to buy new shirts for a new year anyway, so it is just a case of buying a different sort. Parents who think they will find it difficult to find the money for new shirts are always welcome to talk to us about what support we might be able to give.

Any items of uniform not included in the chart below are unchanged.

Thank you as ever for your ongoing support,

Andy Hunter
